Three Questions to Ask Before You Say Yes to a New Commitment

So I’ve never been a resolution type of gal. I’ve made ’em. And I’ve ditched ’em. Lately, I’ve decided to ignore them altogether. Living with a chronic disorder teaches you to hold the future with loose hands, but that’s not necessarily a bad perspective to have. Maybe you’ve got that same perspective? Maybe you know […]

Some 2,000 years ago, the people of God waited. Having been 400 years since they had heard from Him, they probably wondered if He had forgotten about them. And still, some held out hope that they would see the prophecies of old come true. Today, we might have a similar question in our minds: has […]

Three Promises to Cling to in Seasons of Change | www.therescuedletters.com

I’ve spent the morning doing some writing and editing with my back porch door wide open. Fall has finally arrived in North Carolina and the air outside is swirling with change. For starters, it’s twenty degrees cooler than it was just a few days ago. On cue with the temperature shift, there’s a fresh crunch on […]

Freedom to Fly Wildly | www.therescuedletters.com

I’m writing to you from my kitchen, where I have been quarantined with the puppy until she is allowed to explore the rest of the house. I’m supposed to be packing for our trip to the beach this week, but instead I’m thinking about a bird. Yes, a bird. You could hear the flutter of her […]

She Speaks 2016 | www.therescuedletters.com

So I have a little announcement. Two years ago, I sat on this couch watching a throng of women with cute shoes and sweet smiles walk by and I had no idea what I was doing. I had just started my blog. I had just pulled together the rough outline of a book idea. And […]

We are a goldendoodle family. Our first goldendoodle, Dixie, was the BEST family dog and we knew we would […]

I’ve carried this picture in my wallet for thirty years. It’s me and my mom, no doubt fresh from some summer shenanigans. I lost my mother not long after this picture was taken, due to the connective tissue disorder that I inherited from her. I was eleven, she was thirty-seven. Losing my mother at an early age […]

The Benefit of Keeping Things Simple | www.therescuedletters.com

This will be a simple post because it’s almost May. Umm…..IT’S ALMOST MAY!!! I don’t know why I am always surprised at the pace of things this time of the year, but I am. I like to refer to the days between Easter and early June as the roller coaster that I can’t get off of. That’s partly because […]

what we do

Professional dry shampoo user who loves the Bible, total Disney nerd with an overdue library account. Laundry is not my spiritual gift.

Diagnosed with an incurable genetic disorder that I inherited from my mom, I know what it's like living with a story that is not easy. I've got a slew of major medical events in my chart. Oh and my doctors tell me that my life expectancy with vEDS is 48. So there’s that.

But there's also this...
