Celebrating Life: Embracing Faith Beyond Expected Limits

I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Psalm 27:13 NIV I’ve had big feelings this week. I never thought I’d see March 7, 2025. Why? Because nine years ago, Tom and I sat in a geneticist’s office as he told us my life […]

It was late January in 2016. My carotid artery had ruptured two months prior and I was still recovering from the surgeries that repaired it. I wasn’t driving. I wasn’t working. I wasn’t doing much of anything except trying to process the ramifications of the diagnosis I had just received. Yes, I did have Vascular […]

I was flipping through the pages of my older journals this week when my eyes stopped on the following words scrawled at the top of the page: what is God teaching me? What is God teaching me? I wrote these words during a season marked with intense anxiety, crippling pain, and many, many tears. Have you […]

Six years ago, I was lying in an operating waiting room, wondering when my surgery was going to begin. It should have started hours before, but it was delayed for an unknown reason. This particular procedure was the completion of another surgery from three days prior. For someone with a connective tissue disorder like me, […]

Can I be honest with you? I didn’t think I would make it to tomorrow. I was thirty-nine when I was diagnosed with Vascular Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. When we celebrated my 40th birthday a few months later, it felt like a miracle. It still does. It was. It is. So on the day before my 44th […]

My doctor had warned me that hair loss might result from the two […]

There is no cure or treatment for vEDS. And because the life-expectancy of someone with vEDS is cut short, bucket-list living quickly shifted to the forefront of […]

I started collecting these verses over a year ago. It was over a year ago that everything I thought I knew about my body changed. Just before that I was a fitness instructor, regularly teaching 10+ classes a week. I made a living teaching other people how to be healthy and I relished the lifestyle […]

what we do

Professional dry shampoo user who loves the Bible, total Disney nerd with an overdue library account. Laundry is not my spiritual gift.

Diagnosed with an incurable genetic disorder that I inherited from my mom, I know what it's like living with a story that is not easy. I've got a slew of major medical events in my chart. Oh and my doctors tell me that my life expectancy with vEDS is 48. So there’s that.

But there's also this...
