I am never more mindful of the return of Christ than I am just after the Christmas holiday. The weary world has just rejoiced that He came as the infant Messiah, but it's not enough. I want more. The awareness that Jesus is coming again is always on my mind this time of the year. And I want it to be on my mind all the time. I want to be ready.
...
If you think that the hope of Christmas was just a one-time thing, know that God's plan is not finished. This world will continue to groan for its Savior, but we can know without a doubt that He is coming again. He will not forget about us. He will come with unfathomable love to finish what He started.
...
"My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God." - Psalm 84:2

I've been working on some big end of the year projects lately. One of them is prepping for the annual Ladies Christmas Banquet at my church this weekend. It's always such a joy to close out my speaking season at this event!
.
The theme for this year is from Matthew 17:20 - Faith Can Move Mountains. Part of my message seeks to clarify these questions: what is faith and what is a mountain?
.
How would you answer those questions? What does faith mean to you? And what do you see as a metaphorical mountain in your life?

Mid-morning snuggles with Nala before I wrap up some ministry tasks and start prepping for tomorrow. I'm the family bread-baker. What are you cooking for Thanksgiving?

A few observations from my reading in Genesis 1 + John 1 + Hebrews 1 this morning:
🙏
Jesus can create from nothing.
🙏
Jesus can create good from nothing.
🙏
Jesus can create good things that bear fruit from nothing.
🙏
Jesus can create order and good that can bear fruit and sustain us from nothing.
🙏
Jesus can sustain us when nothing around us seems good.
.
I'm thinking specifically today about my friends who can't see the light at the end of the tunnel right now. May you be encouraged in the knowledge that Jesus is for you. His light is our light and His Word is powerful. He is willing and able to get you through this dark season.
.
Onr baby step at a time. I'm rooting for you. Always.

I still remember the way my heart leaped when you got down on your knee and asked me to grow old with you (even though it took me a bit to figure out the roses bit, lol). I’d say yes all over again. Yes to you. Yes to us. Yes to this precious life we’ve made with God. Today I thank God for 19 years of amazing grace and for the way He loves me through you. Happy anniversary, babe. I love you!!!

What is something that brings you joy even in a season of difficult circumstances? I'm working on a writing piece to answer that question and would love your input!

Bayleaf Baptist Church, thank you for your amazing hospitality Friday night. You gals are awesome and the presence of God was so tangible among you. May God give us all a determined heart, just like Jesus. Hugs to all of you!

Unsure about what the future holds? Join me as we walk through Joshua with Ready: Finding the Courage to Face the Unknown. We start next week! More details at the "free Bible reading plans" link in my bio and here:

The phone call in the middle of the night. The diagnosis you don’t think you can face. The ministry you don’t think you are strong enough for. The unknown is always beckoning, threatening to paralyze and promising to keep us from the victorious Christian life that is rightfully ours.
.
What if we could find the courage to readily face whatever falls upon our path? The answer may be easier than you think. It’s found in God’s call to get ready, to make preparations for His will, and to watch for His movement.
.
This call is written all throughout the Bible, but the specific tools we need to do those things are found in the first five chapters of Joshua. They have been written for you, and so has this study.
.
As we follow the Israelite journey across the Jordan River and into the Promised Land, we will learn how to prepare our hearts for the unknown in our futures.
Leaning on wisdom from Joshua, a man who was always at the ready, this six-week study of Joshua 1-5 will prepare you for:

the battle

the blessing

and the pressing onward toward our prize.

Together, we’ll find God’s plan for the woman who knows the battle is coming, but refuses to leave the front line. And you’ll find the courage to face the unknown.
