Happy Anniversary @tomdixoniv 😍
  • I adore this time of the year. Pumpkins, boots, and all things cozy are definitely my love language. But a part of me wants to call a timeout as summer shifts into fall. In central North Carolina, where we go from 94 degrees to 54 degrees in less than 24 hours, we tend to dive head first into autumn. There is no easy transition for those of us who prefer a little hand-holding as things change.
.
The same can be said when we are forced to adjust to circumstantial changes in our lives. As much as we may want things to stay the same, change is unavoidable. When the winds of change are blowing around me, these three promises from God’s Word help to keep me grounded:
.
Jesus will always be the one constant in my life. "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." (Hebrews 13:8)
.
There is nothing I can do to separate me from His love. "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8:38-39
.
Today’s change is the breeding ground for tomorrow’s hope. "So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary." (Hebrews 6:18-19)
.
If you are moving through a season of change, my prayer for you today is that Jesus would be your refuge. He is our steadfast anchor in an unsteady world around us. Let’s cling to Him today.
  • Mid-week prayer 🙏 How we doing this Wednesday?
  • This morning, I'm wrapping up two months of writing out the book of Colossians. I'm a SLOW handwriter, but that was the point. It made me wade through each sentence with much more thought than I would give it if I were just reading with my eyes.
.
This verse at the end today as Paul is writing his final greetings has me thinking about those of us tempted to give up.
.
"Tell Archippus: 'See to it that you complete the work you have received in the Lord.'" - Col. 4:17
.
I also like the MSG wording of that same verse - "And, oh, yes, tell Archippus, 'Do your best in the job you received from the Master. Do your very best.'"
.
Do my best! Because HE is the best. The lingering truth over all of Colossians is that Jesus is everything. He rules over everything. He's everything we need. He's everything we really want. Everything we do is for Him.
.
So if you're tempted to throw in the towel this morning, let me tenderly remind you that Jesus is in your corner. He's rooting for you. Let's not give up now. .
Take the next step, even if it looks like a baby step. Move forward toward the goal He has given you. Put blinders on to anything that keeps you from doing what He has called you to do. Just keep going.
.
"It is the Lord Christ you are serving." - Col. 3:24
.
And He's got your back. Let His energy stir in us today like Col. 1:29 promises it will. We've got work to do.
.
"To this end I labor, struggling with all His energy, which works so powerfully in me." - Col 1:29
  • What a privilege to serve alongside these women at the Beloved Women's Conference! To all the beautiful faces I met today...I am rooting for you, always! #beloved2019

  • On days when my feelings overwhelm my words, I am thankful for this truth.
  • I trust you, Jesus.
