You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book. – Psalm 56:8
There’s a deep ache that often accompanies life’s hardest moments—the feeling of being unseen, unnoticed, or forgotten. When the weight of your struggles feels unbearable, it’s easy to believe that your pain is invisible to everyone, even to God. But the truth is, God sees you. Every tear that falls, every silent cry in the night, every whispered prayer—He knows it all.
Psalm 56:8 is a beautiful reminder of God’s intimate awareness of our suffering. David, who wrote this psalm, was no stranger to hardship. He was pursued by enemies, betrayed by those he trusted, and often found himself in desperate situations. Yet, in the midst of his pain, David found comfort in knowing that God was not indifferent to his suffering. Instead, God was actively engaged in his life, so much so that He was keeping track of every sorrow, collecting every tear.
This image of God collecting our tears in a bottle is incredibly powerful. It speaks to the depth of His care and the personal attention He gives to each of us. To think that the Creator of the universe is so concerned with our individual struggles that He would store up our tears is both humbling and comforting. It’s a reminder that we are never alone in our pain.
In moments of deep sorrow, it’s easy to feel isolated, as if no one could possibly understand the depth of what you’re going through. But Psalm 56:8 assures us that God not only understands, He sees and remembers. Every tear is precious to Him, and not one is shed in vain. Your struggles are not overlooked; they are recorded in His book.
Knowing that God sees you in your struggles changes everything. It means that your pain has purpose. It means that even in the darkest valleys, you are not abandoned. God’s presence is constant, His love is unwavering, and His comfort is always available.
Sometimes, the greatest comfort we can receive in our trials is the simple assurance that we are not alone. God’s promise to be with us is not just a nice thought; it’s a reality. He is present in every moment, attentive to every detail of our lives. And because He sees us, we can rest in the confidence that He will carry us through whatever we face.
When you find yourself overwhelmed by life’s challenges, take a moment to remember that God is there with you. He sees your tears, He knows your pain, and He is actively involved in your healing. You are never out of His sight, and your struggles are never beyond His reach.
Let this truth anchor your soul: You are seen, known, and loved by the One who holds every tear in His hand.

Father, thank You for seeing me in my struggles and for caring so deeply about every aspect of my life. Help me to find comfort in Your constant presence and to trust that You are working all things together for my good. Remind me daily that I am never alone, and that my pain is never unnoticed. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Take a moment to consider a situation where you’ve felt unseen. How does knowing that God sees you change your perspective on that situation? What steps can you take today to rest in His presence and trust in His care?
